The Nightingales are three of Melbourne's
most accomplished singer-songwriters ( Maria Forde, Janette
Geri and Tracey Roberts ) who combine powerful,
inspiring and beautifully crafted original songs from their many
CD recordings with a collection of Celtic favourites, sprinkling
entertaining anecdotes and stories into the mix. Their vocal
ability and musicianship is intoxicating - the harmonies alone
are a knock-out.

In November
2006 the girls performed at Burrinja Performing Arts Space in
an end-of year finale concert for the Ranges Burrinja Folk Club
and as part of the promotion, the concert was entitled Nightingales which turned into the
perception (and understandably so) that they had formed a group
so named. The gig was a huge success and many people have since
been asking "When are the Nightingales performing again?"
So, after some discussion (with the assistance of red wine, cheese
platters and chocolate), and a few more successful gigs together,
The Nightingales were on their way. Having performed on several
occasions since then, they most recently bowled over full-house
audiences at the 2007 National Celtic Festival at Portarlington
and Port Fairy in 2008.

song each out of our own repertoires (we are each singer-songwriters
in our own right) and a couple of Celtic favourites - a 6
8 version of Greensleeves and an exquisite cover of the beautiful
ballad, Wild Mountain Thyme (aka Will you go Lassie
go?). Gorgeous harmonies, beautiful musicianship.
