Coco's Lunch
Coco's Lunch comprises Lisa Young, Sue Johnson, Nicola Eveleigh, Jacqueline Gawler and Gabrielle MacGregor and is one of Australia's most outstanding and innovative a cappella groups. Their music weaves rich harmonies with driving percussion and spirited improvisation. "The group's sound is smooth, sweet and sure - they are the high priestesses of the voice."
"There was a time when Blindman's Holiday was the best female a cappella group in the country. Over the past decade there have been a number of likely contenders, Tiddas, Arramaieda - but, with second CD Invisible Rhythm, Melbourne based five-voice group, Coco's Lunch are ready to assume the mantle." ....Bruce Elder, Sydney Morning Herald.
Mary Doumany
Accompanied by Jeremy Alsop - bass
Contemporary harpist, vocalist and composer, Mary Doumany is considered to be one of Australia's finest - quite out of the ordinary for a classically trained musician " an intriguing blend of rock, world and classical music" mixed with jazz and Celtic influences. The unusual combination of voice and harp as a vehicle for contemporary songs has won her many hearts and critical acclaim for her many projects including recorded works, film music composition and live performances.
As part of The Lovers (with Jeremy Alsop), her first CD, Embrace, was nominated for 5 ARIA awards. She has a " svelte, sensual voice and a charming way of phrasing her melodies. There is a unique freedom to her interpretations."
"Poetic music - melliflous and as intimate as aromatherapy between consenting adults." ....Barry Humphries
Janette Geri
A gifted singer and musician, Janette Geri's diverse repertoire weaves together traditional folk and modern elements using African rhythms and Celtic harmonies. Predominantly a guitarist, she also plays keyboards, harp and recorder on her albums producing wonderfully rich and undulating arrangements. Of her first CD, Secret of the West Wind, Terry Reilly says "Janette Geri provides a work of complete sensitivity and integrity.
It's one thing to praise the arrangements, it's another to pay tribute to the excellent vocal delivery but something must be said about her lyrics which really do court a subtle sense of the poetic. Recited as poetry, her words stand dramatically tall."
Tracey Roberts
Accompanied by Lachlan Davidson - saxophone and woodwind
The songs of singer and pianist, Tracey Roberts, are diverse and both subtle and powerful. Stories portrayed through music utilise rich theatrical undertones tinged with pop, jazz and blues influences woven with "a beautiful voice reflecting not only the skill and artistry of the singer, but something essentially delightful in the woman herself."
Her second CD "Treasure Box is a surprise! I enjoy the rich inner space these songs inhabit - aspirations, relationships some gentle lifestyle satire. Text and music blend lyrically while Tracey Roberts' warm voice amplifies the subtlety of the moods which are enhanced by imaginative harmonies and arrangements." ....Tim O'Connor, Encore Entertainment
