Jealousy
Simple Things - track 5

lyrics and music: Wim Oudijk © 89

Jealousy
The venom's in the tail, a letter in the mail
You're not supposed to open
But you're hopin' it's only a bill

Jealousy
It's spiders and it's mice, it's always ill-advice
To follow jealous hunches, there's a bunch of mistakes
You will certainly make
Like...

He is coming home too late, all flushed and you will
Set the bait, and say
"You must have had a bad and horrible day" and he says
"No, I'm quite alright"
And your suspicion goes full flight
Aha, oh well, you see the light
"So who was there with you all night?"

Jealousy
You know you'll never win, no reason to begin
To fight this false emotion, there's a notion you'll lose
'cause you're less than the rest
Like...

You are out and having fun
Then all your fun becomes undone
When somebody smiles and he's smiling back
You're on the track of some unspoken pact
You wonder how you should react
But in your mind you see the fact
He's not being true to you

Jealousy
A thorn into your crown, no ups but always down
A mental malnutrition, a suspicion of not being worthy at all
Jealousy
Jealousy
Jealousy
Jealousy...
